LEX GRADONVM

It is enacted, by His Majesty William I and the honorable members of the Konlichstag, a law which shall outline the abilities of the monarch ruling over the Kingdom of Gradonia and all lands bound within and to her. In the interest of the people, His Majesty submits himself to the legal boundaries so that he and his lineage which inherits the throne may not intrude upon their rights and due privileges as Gradonians. His Majesty, and any following monarch upon the Gradonian throne, does solemnly swear by the witness of the Lord their God and their government, that this law will not be infringed, for it is to preserve the faith of the security of the Gradonian people. The monarch of Gradonia and their lineage was chosen by the people, through the grace of God, and can be removed by the people, through the grace of God.


DICTATVM

The decrees and declarations of the monarch are henceforth held in two categories, Civile and Nationale. These are to differentiate the dictations by which can be repealed by the Gradonian government. Civile shall be of the dictations that pertain to personal or military orders (chivalric or operational), appointments, nominations, statements, dismissals, and suspensions. The previous may be of religious or secular nature. Nationale shall be of the dictations that pertain for royal legislation (Decrees), judiciary appointments, and legislative dismissals or suspensions. The previous may only be of a secular nature.

Civile

The monarch shall have full ability to issue Dictatvm Civile without any interference from their government. These abilities shall include, but shall not be limited to:

  • Appointments to chivalric or meritorious orders established and maintained by the monarch.
  • Promotions of an individual's rank in aforementioned orders or in the military.
  • Issuing orders to the military.
  • Appointments to and dismissal of persons in their Majesty's cabinet.
  • Appointments to the status of nobility and revocation of titles and land granted through said appointment.
  • Nominations of a noble within the Konlichstag to become Consul.
  • Statements concerning the state of the nation, monarch themselves, royal family, government, and chivalric or meritorious orders.
  • Suspensions of an Elector or Noble in the Council of Electors or Konlichstag, respectively.

Any such ability not here described is at liberty to be used by the monarch until challenged in the Konlichstag.

Nationale

The Monarch shall have the ability to issue Dictatvm Nationale, but is subject to possible interference defined as Nobilis or Electiva. These abilities, and the means by which the dictation may be interfered with, shall include, but not limited to:

In the category Nobilis, which are dictations which the Konlichstag has the ability to interfere in the;

  • Dismissal of the Consul of the Konlichstag.
  • Declaring a recess of the Konlichstag.
  • Ending a session of the Konlichstag.
  • Declaring the cession or annexation of territory.
  • Declaring an adjusted budget of the government.
  • Declaring a session of Großhaus.

In the Category Electiva, which are dictations in which the Council of Electors and President has the ability to interfere, as defined by the Council of Electors Act, in the;

  • Declaration of executive legislation.
  • Appointment of the Supreme Judge.
  • Declaration of a referendum.
  • Suspension of an Elector.
  • Declaring a recess of the Council.
  • Declaring an adjusted budget of the government.
  • Declaring a session of Großhaus.


SVCCESSVM

The monarchy of Gradonia shall henceforth practice the succession law of which the male line of the ruling house will be favored over the female line, but the ability of the female line to inherit the throne will not be prohibited. The ability of a King and a Queen to rule simultaneously will not be prohibited, rather encouraged. If a woman, already of noble house, is married into a noble house, she will cast off her house, and her mother's children will be accepted honorably into the house in which she married.

Provided always and it is hereby enacted that all and every person and persons who shall or may take or inherit the said Crown by virtue of the limitation of this present law and is, are, or shall be reconciled to or shall hold Communion with the Church of any denomination or shall profess the Christian faith shall be subject to such Incapacities as in such Case or Cases are by the said recited law provided enacted and established And that every King and Queen of this Realm who shall come to and succeed in the Crown of this Kingdom by virtue of this law and the Gradonian people shall have the Coronation Oath, stated above, administered to him, her, or them at their respective Coronations according to this law made in the first year of the reign of His Majesty.

Clarigatio

Any Gradonian man shall have liberty to challenge the king for the throne. Any Gradonian woman may have liberty to challenge the Queen for the throne. In this, the monarch is not held above the people excepting in office.

The challenge may be accepted or declined, on the personal honor of the monarch. If the challenge is accepted then a duel shall commence at the liberty of the monarch. The duel will be restricted to the bounds of a circle, twenty paces in radius. The challenge must use weapons of non lethal nature, and the basis of victory will be agreed by both the monarch and challenger. Upon the victory of the monarch, the challenger will be barred from any post he held beforehand and be unable to serve it again. Upon the victory of the challenger, the monarch shall cede the crown and throne to them, but may retain all other noble titles held. A panel of three judges, the President, Consul, and Supreme judge will decide the victor.
