between the
Empire of Austenasia and the Commonwealth of New Virginia

The Empire of Austenasia and the Commonwealth of New Virginia, in honour of the historical and cultural bond their peoples share and seeking to preserve peace in the community of small nations, champion policies of universal rights, defend their sovereignty and rights, and cooperate diplomatically and economically, do hereby enact this Treaty of Alliance.

Article 1
The Empire of Austenasia and the Commonwealth of New Virginia, hereinafter referred to as “the signatory nations”, seek to: Preserve the historical and cultural bond their peoples share;

  1. Preserve peace in the community of small nations, specifically the MicroWiki community;
  2. Promote a policy of basic human rights for all; and
  3. Defend their homeland, safety and rights at all costs.

Article 2
Each signatory nation shall publicly respect the official policies of the other, and shall each work for the greater good of the micronational community regardless of the views of the nations within it.

Article 3
Each signatory nation recognizes the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the other. If either signatory nation violates this recognition by encouraging the secession of a portion of the other signatory nation, waging war upon the other, or by some other means, this Treaty shall be rendered null and void.

Article 4
No barrier to free trade between the signatory nations shall be established. If either signatory nation institutes such a barrier, this treaty shall be rendered null and void.

Article 5
A signatory nation may withdraw from this alliance at any time, under the following terms and conditions: The withdrawing signatory nation shall provide a full twenty-four hour warning before withdrawing from the alliance. The withdrawing signatory nation shall meet with representatives of the other signatory nation to discuss grievances and attempt to negotiate an agreement to salvage the treaty at least once during this period.

Article 6
The signatory nations will resolve any disputes between them by peaceful, diplomatic means. Any military involvement would automatically rend this null and void.

Article 7
In the event of military aggression against a signatory nation by a foreign power, the other signatory nation shall provide military support and humanitarian aid, subject to the laws of the signatory nation in question.

Article 8
The signatory nations shall exchange ambassadors accredited by the respective heads of state of the alliance.

Article 9
This treaty may be amended as required by consensus of the signatory nations.

Done on this 6th day of May in the Year of Our Lord Two-thousand and twenty, of the Consulship of Hannah Augusta and Brenda Bargerii Nova Richmondiae Domina, and of the Independence of the Commonwealth of New Virginia the First.
