What is Digi Micro Summit?

A newcomer in micronational conferences.

Author : Cloe de Sancratosia.

On 6 July 2022, Sancratosia shared to the micronational community that it was co-organizing the digital conference along with the Democratic Republic of Satoshi.

Micronations don’t exist in a vaccuum

For many micronationalists, one of the driving reason for starting their own independent nation or state lies in the desire to be a part of the large community that is micronationalism. It might not be the main reason but it is there. Micronations are also, often times, far apart from one another. It is really difficult to find people who understand what micronations are and what they do, let alone find a leader that is near you that you can meet on a somewhat regular basis. That’s why micronational meetings are always sought events. Some of these events, over the course of many years, have established themselves as staple of excellence within the micronational community, such as PoliNation, the MicroFrancophonie, Micro-Euro-Summit and, of course, MicroCon.

These events are the occasion to meet and greet with micronationalists from around the world (or at least from around the general part of the world where they are held) and, most importantly, meet many at once. These events, copied on real-world conferences and networking events, bring with them an atmosphere and a setting that is favourable for many exchanges between the participants.

Micronationalism is expensive!

You don’t start a sovereign nation for free. Even though many will find creative and ingenious ways to spend as little as they can, to fully enjoy their hobby and share their ideas to the world, micronations are still costly in time. For every nation that has time and money on their hands, there are hundreds that have little time or money or, in most cases, both. For many micronations, attendance to any of the in-person conferences is out of reach. Attending a micronational conference can easily cost in the hundreds or even in the thousands!

Going to a micronational conference is usually a privileged experience and the prohibitive costs means missing on the participation of interesting micronations. The advantages of having presentations at these conferences is greatly diminished when micronations are missing from the line-up, simply because they cannot afford to go.

Don’t get me wrong, micronational conferences are events that need to be maintained and remain a wonderful experience for its participants. The Principality of Sancratosia will indeed be in attendance at MicroCon 2022 and the participating nations are far from being boring nations that don’t have any good experience to share, on the contrary!

Digi Micro Summit

When the Principality of Sancratosia was contacted by the Democratic Republic of Satoshi with this idea of hosting a digital conference, the Principality gladly accepted. Through this Metaverse solution, there was a way to have the participation of the most micronations while still replicating the ambiance of an in-person summit. La Ganso Coronada had an exclusive look at the platform proposed by the Grand Miner President of Satoshi, Lucas Heimlich and it really felt that this platform would indeed be appropriate for such an event.

This event could be what in-person conferences could never be. It can be able to bring micronationalists on a budget, that can’t afford to travel, micronations that are in different time zones, etc. With a programmation that aims to span all time zones, that aims to bring micronationalists together with day-long open rooms for chatting and getting along, the Digi Micro Summit could have the closest in-person experience of any digital events.
