2nd June 2013, Province of Tytannia

Good day to you all, my people! I, your Emperor, stand before you today to share with you all the meaning of our nation; its purpose, but also its potential, and its opportunities.

When I founded the Empire of Adammia on the 13th of April this year, I knew little of what to expect as a micronational ruler. Many problems presented themselves during the first week – where would I find citizens, or land? How would I make a stable government system? Would I fit in with the more serious micronationalists in the international community?

But look where we are now! Adammia has a total of 12 citizens from our extended family! We own 768 square metres of land, split up over four provinces! Imperial power has been controlled with the Supreme Directive, decrees have given us a basic military and treasury. We have a flag, a coat of arms, and a national anthem to symbolise the nation. We have a system of nobility – Dukes and Archdukes – to manage the land. In foreign matters, Adammia has joined the well known organisation Grand Unified Micronational as a provisional member, allowing us to take our first steps into the intermicronational world. We have come far, my people, far indeed, over the past two months!

But I know that many of you will have a question that undermines all this progress. Why? Why does Adammia exist? Why is life living as part of the United Kingdom not enough? Some people may think they know the answer. Some might suspect that all this is an exercise in self-aggrandisement. After all, Adammia is named after me, and for a while I was its only citizen. While this may be quite a logical assumption – and perhaps, for a time, it was the truth, before Adammia got on its feet – today, it is not the case. No, today we exist as a micronation because we have the right to do so. Adammia is an expression of our right to self-determination, to choose how we wish to govern ourselves. To all intents and purposes, we are all citizens of the United Kingdom, and we act as such – but do not forget that Adammia is a country within a country! It is declared in our Supreme Directive that the laws of the UK must be respected – and as long as we remain within those guidelines, Adammia has the freedom to do anything! Together as a nation, we are expressing that freedom!

This brings me to my last point. What do we do with that freedom now? To answer, my people, is to strive to better ourselves, as individuals and as a nation! We have the potential to progress to a time when a real, fabric Adammic flag flies proudly over our realm, a time when we have a working self contained economy, stamps, passports, currency, and democracy. A time when we are a micronation to be admired and respected! As your Emperor, it is my duty to guide us forward to this time. But the people will still have their say – soon, planning shall begin for an Adammic Parliament! The peoples of the four provinces shall be equally represented on a council that can propose laws that can be passed with Imperial consent. With time, too, the Empire itself shall grow. There are still opportunities for more land and population!

So then, my people, you now know the purpose and goals of our micronation. The possibilities are endless, we just have to discover them. Thank you for listening to this speech, and I shall be now answering any questions you may have for a few minutes. Seek wisdom and honour, and long live the Empire!
