Feynman Institute Act 2014
The law reestablishing the Feynman Institute as the higher education institution of the Free State of Renasia. It became law on November 29, 2014.
Section I: The Feynman Institute
1. An institution of higher learning, hereafter called the Feynman Institute or the FI is hereby established by the Free State of Renasia.
2. This bill, if passed, supersedes any previous laws regarding the FI
Section II: Lead Representative of the FI
1. The head of the administration of the FI will be appointed by the Guntanu'tl
2. Her or his job title will be “Lead Representative” to signify that she or he represents the academic community of the FI
3. The Lead Representative is responsible for the promotion and continuation of a productive learning environment at the FI
Section III: Registration
1. Any Renasian citizen will have the right to enroll in the FI for free.
2. Any citizen of any member state of the Saint Josephsburg Economic Pact will also have the right to enroll in the FI for free.
3. Enrollment will hereafter be referred to as registration, and those who have registered as registrants
4. Non-Renasian citizens from non-member states of the Saint Josephsburg Economic Pact will be allowed to register with permission from the administration of the FI.
- (a) The Lead Representative will promptly submit an official notice to the Guntanu'tl of each registration by a non-Renasian citizen
- (b) The Guntanu'tl will have the right to veto this registration by a vote within one week of being given said notice
Section IV: The Feynman Institute Nonorientable Journal
1. The Lead Representative of the Feynman Institute will establish a journal which will be used for the function of demonstrating and spreading knowledge learned by registrants
2. This journal will be called the Feynman Institute Nonorientable Journal, hereafter referred to as the Journal.
3. This journal will be used by registrants at all levels of intellectual advancement
4. This journal will take the form of a wiki
- (a) This wiki is to have different categories and subcategories which will parallel the fractal nature of the sciences
- (b) The functionality of the wiki will be used to organize the Journal into different fields of study
5. At least three reviews will be required to have a paper published in the Journal, if there are a sufficient number of knowledgeable registrants to complete 3 reviews.
- (a) Depending on the field of study, it is possible that more reviews will be required as determined by the administration
- (b) Reviewers should be a mix of registrants, some having publications at the level to which the paper was submitted for review and some having publications at more specialized levels
- (c) Each review will either recommend or not recommend that the paper be accepted for publication
- (d) Based on the reviews, a paper will either be published or not published
6. Multiple registrants are expected to be listed as authors on each paper submitted for review
- (a) Wherever possible, at least one author on a paper submitted for review in one field of study should have at least one author from a more specialized field
- (b) This registrant is expected to act as an adviser and teacher to the other authors of the paper
7. Papers accepted by the Journal for publication will also be published at regular intervals in a more traditional publication document
Section V: Degrees Granted by the FI
1. Any registrant who his listed as an author on 25 papers in a given field of study or any more specialized fields thereof can apply and will receive a degree in that field of study from the FI
2. For the purposes of complying with the terms of the Saint Josephsburg Economic Pact, certain fields of study will be classified as “Undergraduate,” and others as “Graduate.”
3. Graduate fields are to be more specialized than Undergraduate fields
4. In order to receive a degree from the FI in a Graduate field, a Registrant must first receive a degree from a less specialized, but related undergraduate field
