Honours and Other Affairs

UPON OUR IMPERIAL MAJESTY'S SOVEREIGN COMMAND,
NOTING that an excessive number of individuals have been granted the titles of Knight and Dame such that the value of those titles has become cheapened, and further that the system of titles and styles is in need of reform in general;
FURTHER NOTING that owing to a mistake in Our previous Imperial Decree LV, the Territory of Pererria must again be moved;
FURTHER NOTING that we wish to respect the wishes of various citizens of the Province of Paternia for greater autonomy;
BE IT DECREED as follows:

We hereby establish a new chivalric order called the Order of the Meerkat. The Monarch shall assume the title and position of Sovereign of the Order of the Meerkat, and shall have full authority over the membership of the Order. The order of precedence of chivalric orders within Adammia shall be, from lowest to highest, the Order of Adammia, then the Order of the Meerkat, then the Ordo Vladius. The grades of membership within the Order of the Meerkat shall be, from lowest to highest ranking, Member of the Order of the Meerkat, Knight (if male) / Dame (if female) of the Order of the Meerkat, and Knight (if male) / Dame (if female) Commander of the Order of the Meerkat. Knights/Dames and Knight/Dame Commanders of the Order of the Meerkat shall be armigers, but Members of the Order of the Meerkat shall not. Post-nominal letters granted to members of the Order of the Meerkat shall be as follows:

  • Member: MM
  • Knight: KM
  • Dame: DM
  • Knight Commander: KCM
  • Dame Commander: DCM

We hereby declare that the full style and title of Dukes, Duchesses, Archdukes and Archduchesses shall be of the following format: His/Her Grace, Lord/Lady Full Name, nth Title, where n is the number of nobles who have held the title in question; other nobles shall have the same full style and title, but without the His/Her Grace. The shortened style and title of nobles shall be Lord/Lady Surname, Title. Nobles with military ranks above the rank of Major in the Adammic Army, Rear-Admiral in the Adammic Navy, and Wing Commander in the Adammic Air Force may use their rank in conjunction with their full or shortened style, with the rank immediately following Lord/Lady. Nobles who are also Knights or Dames may use the style of Sir or Madam in conjunction with their full style, immediately preceeding their name, but not in conjunction with their shortened style. In all circumstances, members of the Imperial Family should only use their imperial styles, and not use any noble styles.

We hereby declare that the order of precedence for individuals in Adammia shall be as follows:

  • The Monarch
  • The spouse of the Monarch
  • The Crown Prince / Princess
  • Princes and Princesses, in order of the line of succession
  • The parents of the Monarch, by age
  • The Prince Consort / Princess Consort (unmarried)
  • The Lord Chancellor
  • Archdukes and Archduchesses, in order of the date they took up the title
  • The Prime Minister
  • The Deputy Prime Minister
  • The Grand Admiral of the Adammic Navy
  • The Field Marshal of the Adammic Army
  • The Air Chief Marshal of the Adammic Air Force
  • The Grand Master of the Ordo Vladius
  • Dukes and Duchesses, in order of the date they took up the title
  • Generals, Admirals and Air Marshals, in order of the date they took up the rank
  • Colonial governors, in order of the date they took up the office
  • Government ministers, in order of the date they took up the office
  • Governors of Territories, in order of the date they took up the office
  • Counts and Countesses, in order of the date they took up the title
  • Barons and Baronesses, in order the date they took up the title
  • Knight / Dame Commanders of the Order of the Meerkat, in order of their date of induction
  • Knight / Dame Commanders of the Order of Adammia, in order of their date of induction
  • Colonels, Vice-Admirals and Commodores, in order of the date they took up the rank
  • Knights / Dames of the Ordo Vladius, in order of their date of induction
  • Knights / Dames of the Order of the Meerkat, in order of their date of induction
  • Knights / Dames of the Order of Adammia, in order of their date of induction
  • Majors, Rear-Admirals and Wing Commanders, in order of the date they took up the rank
  • Members of the Order of the Meerkat, in order of their date of induction
  • Full citizens, by date of birth
  • Honourary citizens, by date of birth

We hereby declare that the Territory of Pererria shall be moved to the area of canal-side immediately adjacent to University Station, that being of Edgbaston in the County of Warwick in England, which is hereby claimed as territory of the Empire of Adammia; the territory formerly comprising Pererria shall be ceded to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

We hereby declare that the County of Upper Paternia shall be created as a subdivision of the Province of Paternia, which shall cover all of the upper floors (that is to say, those above the ground floor) of the main house within Paternia. We hereby appoint Elizabeth Ecart as the Countess of Upper Paternia. We declare that the Countess of Upper Paternia, instead of the Local Government of Paternia, shall have full local jurisdiction over Upper Paternia; we furthermore declare that Imperial Decrees and Acts of Council shall not hold effect over Upper Paternia unless the legislation in question explicitly states that it should be the case.

The requirement for the Cabinet to meet at least once per month, set out in the Imperial Government Act 2015, is hereby abolished.

Knights and Dames of the Order of Adammia who are to be removed from that Order and instead inducted as Members of the Order of the Meerkat are listed in Appendix A to this Decree.

This, the fifty-sixth Imperial Decree of Our Imperial Majesty Adam the First, Emperor of Adammia, Count of Penmine and Spildcastle, Lord Chancellor of State, Grand Admiral etcetera, is decreed at Serkatia on this the fifteenth day of February, two-thousand and eighteenth year of the Common Era and the sixth year of Our reign, and is signed into immediate effect.
