Adam I's Christmas Broadcast, 2021
25th December 2021, County of Maternia
Citizens of the Empire, it is my honoured place as Emperor to wish all of you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
With all of the doom and gloom in the news, it is easy to feel as if we are back to where we were last Christmas, when the situation with Covid was much more bleak. My message to you all this Christmas is that we are in a far better position compared to last year. It is my firm belief that the worst of the pandemic is now behind us, and that we can look forward to a much more normal 2022.
Last Christmas, not a single Adammic citizen had received a Covid vaccination. Now, almost all citizens have received two vaccine doses, and boosters are being rolled out at an unprecedented rate courtesy of the UK's NHS. Evidence is coming out by the day that the latest variant is significantly less likely to cause hospitalisations. From our perspective, our vulnerable citizens have been protected. That is why Adammia's state of emergency was ended in July and has not been re-activated since. The latter half of 2021 has been mostly normal, and we have seen the first large gatherings of Adammic citizens in almost two years.
You should employ common sense at this point in time. If you have been vaccinated, and you are confident that you are not carrying Covid, you are absolutely entitled to see your friends and family this Christmas. Soon the pandemic will be behind us for good. The tide has turned. It seems likely that the current wave will be short and sharp, and that normality will again be restored by the end of January once the booster rollout is complete. It is, therefore, with confidence that I say that I look forward to seeing many of you in April for the Empire's ninth Foundation Day celebrations.
Meanwhile, Adammia goes from strength to strength. Recently, I was elected to a record-breaking fifth term as Chair of the Grand Unified Micronational. Our thanks go to all the micronations around the world that have supported us. My government is working to resolve the electoral crisis, and we hope to have proposals for change that the public can vote on soon.
So, today, join me in enjoying one of Adammia's most important public holidays. Christmas is, above all else, a time for happiness. As you exchange your gifts and enjoy your Christmas dinners, I once again wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Seek wisdom and honour, and long live the Empire.
