Adam I's Christmas Broadcast, 2018
25th December 2018, County of Maternia
To the citizens of this great Empire, Our Imperial Majesty extends our greetings for the festive season.
When I addressed you last Christmas, Adammia had just completed the process of moving its government from the old Northern territories to new provinces in Birmingham. The future, at this time, was uncertain. Since then, the Empire has made much progress. A functioning court system has been introduced, and it is now possible to marry in Adammia. Once again, I am serving as Chair of the Grand Unified Micronational, restoring the Empire to a position of great diplomatic influence following a long period of isolation.
At the same time, there has been much political change in the Empire this year. Many of us were surprised by the landslide election of Prime Minister Saunders in October. What this tells me, however, is that the people are beginning to take more of a stake in the nation, and that they are beginning to expect more of their government. This is something that I welcome.
We now find ourselves at a crossroads as a nation. We can choose either the path of division, or the path of co-operation. We need only look at examples around the world, particularly in America, to see the kind of damage that a divided, partisan system can cause. Here in Adammia, I have endeavoured to work with both the government and the opposition to ensure that Adammia is governed in the national interest, and I am pleased that there are like-minded individuals on all sides of the Ruling Council. We now need to develop and reinforce this spirit of co-operation.
It is only through working together that Adammia will move forward. The constitutional basis for Adammic government is the monarch and the people, working together in tandem. This is a principle which applies not just to our government, but all aspects of our lives. Co-operation is the key to building anything – be that a nation, a business, a relationship, or a family.
As we move into 2019, there are still many more challenges and opportunities ahead for this great nation. We have questions to answer around constitutional reform, we have to reinforce the rule of law and provide security amidst the crime of Selly Oak, and we have to secure our country's financial future. I look forward to working with all of you, regardless of political allegience, to build the Adammia of the future.
I would like to leave you all by, on behalf of the Imperial Family and all the staff at the Office of the Emperor, wishing you a merry Christmas and a happy New Year. Seek wisdom and honour, and long live the Empire.
