Ministerial Mandate Act 2020

An Act to establish the mandates and roles of the Gweinidogion.

SIÂN, drwy Ras Duw Brenhines Morgannwg, At Ein Ffyddlon ac anwylaf aelodau Senedd Morgannwg, Cyfarchion!
Gan ei fod wedi ei basio gan Senedd Morgannwg a chael cysyniad Ei Mawrhydi Awst, deddfir fel a ganlyn—

SIAN, by God’s Grace Queen of Morgannwg, To Our Trusty and well beloved the members of the Parliament of Morgannwg, Greeting!
Having been passed by the Parliament of Morgannwg and having received the assent of Her Most August Majesty, it is enacted as follows—

Article 1. Letter of mandate

1. When appointing a Gweinidog, the Monarch is to deliver to the appointee a letter of mandate, written on the advice of the Prif Weinidog.
2. The letter of mandate is to include:
   1. the name of their Gweinidogaeth, in Welsh and English;
   2. the specific policy area for which the Gweinidog is responsible;
   3. the junior members of the Llywodraeth for which the Gweinidog is responsible;
   4. the inferior government bodies for which the Gweinidog is responsible.
3. The letter of mandate may be renewed by the Monarch on the advice of the Prif Weinidog at any time, if the Gweinidog accepts the new letter.

Article 2. Interpretation

1. In legislation:
   1. ‘the Gweinidog’ is to refer to whichever Gweinidog is relevant to the legislation under their mandate;
   2. ‘the Gweinidogaeth’ is to refer to whichever Gweinidogaeth is relevant to the legislation under its mandate.

Article 3. Coming into force

1. This Act comes into force immediately following Royal Assent.
